Dear Friends of Jehan Numa, we're happy to report 2023 has begun on a truly sunny note. At each of our four properties, we've been welcoming familiar faces and new ones as well. It's giving us the opportunity to not only showcase what we do best, but the best of what've added over the past year or so.

Reni Pani Jungle Lodge

The lodge, on the fringes of the Satpura Tiger Reserve, now has horseback safaris as part of our roster of experiences. Guests proficient in riding can book morning and evening rides lasting three hours and ending with a bush breakfast or a sundowner that take place in the 50sq km buffer zone adjoining the lodge. Our herd of 6 thoroughbred and Marwari horses are trained in the English arena style and have been carefully acclimatised to this forested region. Riders are led by experienced guides through woods covered in teak, bamboo and over seasonal streams and past tribal villages Chances of sighting herbivores like spotted deer, nilgai, monkeys and barking deer are quite high. Who knows, if luck is on one's side, you might spot a leopard or tiger as well. Which, by the way, is also possible if you're staying at one of our 4 luxe tents that overlook a watering hole.

Bori Safari Lodge

We've added 4 new rooms to the youngest member of the Jehan Numa family bringing the total key count to 12. The Lodge, as you may know, was the first to open in the vicinity of the Bori Wildlife Sanctuary, a high tiger density region. Each of our new Superior Luxury Rooms (1,140sq ft) is more than double the size of our Luxury Rooms (5,25sq ft), and comes with outdoor showers, bath tubs and a viewing deck that looks out onto a butterfly garden being developed to resuscitate declining populations of indigenous butterflies. While the interiors continue to channel the lodge's rustic chic aesthetic, we've added photographs of Bori tigresses who've mothered the increase in the park's tiger population.

Jehan Numa Palace Facade

Jehan Numa Palace

We're celebrating and paying tribute to the achievements of our own matriarchs through a museum we've set up within the Palace. The Palace was built to be the office of our great-great-grandfather, the second son of the last Nawab Begum. She, her mother and grandmothers, ruled the state of Bhopal, building many vital educational institutions, hospitals and infrastructure projects. We've put together a QR-coded audio guide that takes visitors through all the family photographs, artefacts, and even letters written in Urdu that showcase this heritage. The museum is a work in progress as we restore, catalogue and collect more material being contributed by our extended family So, every time you visit, you might find something new to view and admire.

Jehan Numa Retreat - a seating area amidst nature

Jehan Numa Retreat

Royal kitchens, especially those of our family, have been known for their culinary excellence. We've brought this to our hotels and at the Jehan Numa Retreat, our 28-key boutique hotel just outside Bhopal, we've added a farm-to-fork restaurant. A whole range of organic produce — kale, Swiss chard, thyme, rosemary, sage, fennel — that goes into our menus at Greenhouse Bistro, can be found growing all around you. And what's not immediately available is sourced from organic farms nearby. Start your day with our cold pressed juices made from produce such as kale, celery and beetroot that are grown in-house. Later, you could pick veggies ripe for the plucking and have our chefs cook it for you

Whichever of our retreats you choose to visit, we've got something new for you and can't wait to have you experience it.

Welcome home, from yours to ours.
